Hyderabad, June 27: Hyderabad district Collector Natarajan Gulzar on Saturday made a surprise visit to the Government Area Hospital in Malakpet, better known as the Police Hospital.
Mr Gulzar conducted a careful inspection of the maternity ward and the operation theatre.
He expressed his dismay over the general public turning away from the government hospitals and getting treatment at private hospitals.
The Collector said that this was due to the harsh attitude of the doctors and other staff of the government hospitals.
He appealed to the medical staff to bring about a change in their attitude so that patients turn back to government hospital.
Mr Gulzar said that the medical staff should create awareness among the people of the area and get them to revert back to government hospitals for treatment.
He said that the government is spending crores of rupees on government hospitals yet the public prefers to get treated at private hospitals even if they have to take loans for this. Mr Gulzar said that should make the government hospital staff ponder over the reasons.
The Collector took details from hospital superintendent Dr Subba Rao over the various treatments given to patients under Arogyasri Health Scheme.
