Collector inaugurates Govt School built at a cost of Rs 60 lakhs

A Government School building built for the Children of Penjerla Village, near Kothapet located in Hyderabad outskirts was inaugurated on Monday by Girija Shankar, District Collector of Mahaboobnagar District.

Speaking on the occasion Girija Shankar said it is so far the best constructed school in the district. He appealed to the students to make use of the facilities. Told them to study for 16 hours and achieve success in life.

The newly constructed school has 7 classrooms, 2 toilets and a principal’s room built at a cost of Rs.60 lakhs. The Inauguration was graced by P&G Plant Manager Madhav Rao, Round Table India VP Deepak, Round Table AP Incharge Riaz, Project Chairman Kishore Kumar and others. Round Table India is also constructing four other schools one at Vizag, Guntur and two in Medak District. These will be completed very soon, informed Kishore.

Round Table India and Procter and Gamble constructed the school jointly on land allotted by the Government. Named as “P&G Shiksha VidyaVanti Round Table Z.P High School”, it will house about 300 students. This initiative was taken up by Secunderabad Twin Area Round Table # 148 (Member of Round Table India).

Round Table India and Procter and Gamble alliance to built schools has been prevailing from the past 3-4 years. RTI under its banner “Freedom Through Education” and P&G under its banner “SHIKSHA” (the CSR initiative of P&G) have been building schools throughout the country.

Even after 65 years of independence, Millions of Indian children have never, ever been to school. Illiteracy is a self-fulfilling curse that perpetuates the chain of poverty, degradation and child labour. To reach out to this group of underprivileged children, since the year 1996, Round Table India across the country started adopting projects aimed at providing quality school infrastructure, and then in 1998 this project was formalized and thus born the National Project of Round Table India “Freedom Through Education” – In pursuit of educating underprivileged children, Round Table India has built 4712 Classrooms in 1720 Schools at a total outlay of Rs 130 Crore impacting the education of 5.2 Million Children, informed Round Table Member Kishore Kumar.
