Collector assures bankers of loan recovery from SHGs

East Godavari District Collector Neethu Kumary has assured bankers of all-out cooperation from the district administration in the recovery of loans from the woman self help groups (SHGs) and asked them to come forward to sanction loans liberally treating it as a social responsibility. Addressing the special awareness meeting for bankers organised by the State society for eradication of rural poverty (SERP) and district unit of Indira kranti patham here today, she has expressed her dissatisfaction over the reluctance of the bankers in sanctioning loans to SHGs under he pretext of piling up of arrears. Bankers along with the performing commercial activity should assist the woman self help groups sanctioning loans discharging their social responsibility, she said bankers need not have any apprehensions on loans recovery as the revenue department and the IKP officers would assist them in recovery if necessary by using the revenue recovery act. On the large scale arrears piled up from SHGs in agency area, the Collector has attributed it to the innocence and lack of understanding among the tribal women and wanted the officials to strive for educating them on the prompt loan repayment for getting fresh loans.
