Bangalore, April 06: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today justified the decision to allot sites to the Indian cricket team that won the ICC World Cup 2011, saying it was the collective decision of the government.
“This is collective decision of the government,” he told reporters when faced with a volley of questions on the issue. “The decision was taken after examining all the pros and cons of the issue,” he said refusing to indulge in any further debate on the issue.
Ever since the announcement of the government, some groups have opposed the proposal, saying it could burden the tax payer with an expenditure that could run up to Rs 40 crore.
Yeddyurappa said about 15 sites would be allocated to the each member of the Indian squad, including departing coach Gary Kirsten.
