Lucknow, January 09:Thirteen more people died due tosevere cold conditions in different parts of Uttar Pradesh,taking the toll in the state this winter to 81.
While five people died in Maharajganj district, four deaths were reported in Barabanki. One person each died in Deoria, Firozabad, Hardoi and Ballia due to cold since yesterday, official sources said here.
Cold wave conditions prevailed in most parts of the state, Met department officials said, adding it was a foggy day in majority of areas.
Weather was mainly dry in the state and night temperatures were markedly below normal in Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Jhansi divisions.
Temperatures were appreciably below normal in Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Agra, Meerut divisions and below normal elsewhere.
With 0.6 degrees Celsius, Agra recorded the lowest temperature in the state, which was six notches below normal.
The state capital Lucknow recorded a minimum of 3.4 deg C, which was four degrees below normal, whereas Varanasi recorded a low of 5 deg C, three notches below normal.
