Hyderabad experienced a chilly whether onTuesday as the mercury plunged to 9.2 degree Celsius, the lowest since 2005. The Telangana government issued a cold wave warning in parts of the state, while according to India Meteorological Department, temperatures would continue to go down further over the next few days.
Meteorological Department (IMD) has attributed the cold wave conditions to cold dry northerly winds blowing into the Telangana state. It has forecast that temperature might further dip in the coming days.
While people in Hyderabad pulled out their woollens, people in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema made bonfires to protect themselves from the biting cold.
The government asked authorities in Adilabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad district to adopt contingency measures, especially for the homeless, after the Met department said these districts are in for more bad weather.
The health authorities have also come out with a list of precautionary measures for people to protect themselves from the cold.
