Hyderabad, December 27: For the shopkeepers who trade in woollens, the cold weather condition prevailing in the city is really heart warming.
With no let up in the cold conditions, the number of people thronging the stalls selling woollens in various places across the city is growing by the day.
The cold conditions, now hovering at about 12 Degrees Celsius in the city, have resulted in forcing the people to opt for these low-cost sweaters, jackets, gloves, monkey caps and mufflers.
These shops, most visible in Koti, Imlibun, Lakdi-ka-Pul, Secunderabad and other places are seeing brisk business.
For the two-wheeler drivers, the monkey cap combined with a muffler and a heavy sweater is a prized possession, while housewives are seen buying sweaters for themselves and their school going kids. The motorcyclists also are seen buying woollen gloves to protect their fingers from the biting cold.
The shopkeepers we spoke to told us that they expect the sales to be high for another fortnight, then gradually ease by mid-February.
They also said that by then they would make enough money to buy rain-proof jackets and coats and prepare for the monsoon season.
