Cold condition remains unabated in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh, Dec 14: Cold conditions remained unabated in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh today with the minimum temperatures plummeting upto three degrees Celsius below normal in most parts of the region. The minimum temperatures in most parts of Punjab and Haryana hovered between one to three degrees Celsius below normal, the MET office said here.

In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Rohtak was the coldest place with a low of 4.9 degrees Celsius which was two notches below normal. While Ambala shivered at a low of 5.1 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, the minimum temperature at Ludhiana was 5.8 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal.

Among the other places, Patiala settled at a low of 6.3 C, one notch below normal, followed by 6.4 C at Karnal, three notches below normal, 6.6 C at Chandigarh and 10.3 C at Hisar. Some parts of Punjab and Haryana, including Ludhiana and Ambala, also witnessed mist or fog in the morning.

The MET forecasts mist or haze in morning and night at several places of Punjab and Haryana for the next few days.
