Hyderabad, December 30: Elections to the five co-opted member posts of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be held on February 8.
Applications from aspiring knowledgeable candidates will be invited from January 18 to 25 and scrutiny of the forms will be taken up between January 26 and 28.
The 150 corporators and 65 ex-officio members, who include MPs, MLAs and MLCs, will elect the coopted members at a special council meeting. Two posts of coopted members have been reserved for minorities. One post each in minority and general categories has been allocated for women.
Meanwhile, the first ordinary meeting of the newlyelected council of the GHMC will be held on January 18.
The Council Hall in the GHMC head office complex is being spruced up for the purpose.
In view of the expanded council, temporary seating arrangements are being made in the hall to accomodate the additional corporators and exofficio members.
The multi-storied GHMC office building-cum-council complex, under construction near Indira Park, is not likely to be available soon.
