CM’s PPP on projects another bid to hoodwink people: Uttam

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Uttam Kumar Reddy here on Friday felt that the power point presentation made by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) in the Assembly on irrigation projects was nothing but an another effort to hoodwink people of the State.

Speaking to the media in Nalgonda town, the TPCC president alleged that KCR has made a power point presentation in the House in violation of the traditions and rules in the Indian democracy. He pointed out that no audio-visual presentation was given by anybody in any legislative house and Parliament during the last 60 years.

“We sought power point presentation by the Chief Minister either in the Assembly Committee hall or in the Secretariat and also written letters to the Speaker of Legislative Assembly thrice in the matter. But, there was no positive response from the government”, he said. Pooh-phooing the power point presentation and its coverage by the media, the TPCC chief said it was like creating a false illustration that the water in the irrigation projects was overflowing across the State. He charged the TRS government with failure to complete a single irrigation project, which were taken up by it.

He also alleged that the TRS government has entered into an agreement with Maharashtra and decided to reduce the height of Pranahitha-Chevella Project from 152 feet to 148 feet at the cost of interests of people of the State. Making it clear that the Congress party was not against construction of irrigation projects, the TPCC Chief reiterated his allegation that the TRS government has taken up re-designing of irrigation projects for ‘bribes’ and ‘corrupt deals’. He termed Palamuru Ranga Reddy Project as a big scam.

The TPCC president also questioned the need for re-designing of Pranahitha-Chevella Project, which obtained half of the required permission from the Centre. He pointed out that the TRS has demanded national project status to the earlier design of the Project during Telangana agitation. Uttam Kumar Reddy felt that it was very unfortunate that the State government was misusing the funds, which have been brought in the form of loans from various sources. The Congress would try to educate the people about corrupt practices of the TRS government.

He also accused the TRS government of failure to take up drought relief measures, including drinking water problem, fodder scarcity and prevention of migrations by effectively implementing National Rural Employment Guarantee Program (NREGP).
