Azamgarh, February 20: The chief medical officer (CMO) of Azamgarh was today allegedly caught accepting bribe in his office by an anti-corruption team here.
Dr K M Agarwal was arrested while allegedly accepting Rs 30,000 from Shailesh Kumar Rai, a doctor posted at Gomadi primary health centre whose contract ended last year.
Rai had alleged in his complaint that the CMO had demanded the money for renewing his contract, police said.
However, the CMO rejected the charges claiming that he had taken some action against Rai, who has now “framed him in the case by forcibly putting the money in his drawer”.
