CM wants electric wires underground

Hyderabad, July 22: Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday asked APTransco to work towards preventing incidents of electrocution caused by hanging wires, particularly at road crossings.

Rajasekhara Reddy said it was unfortunate that innocents suffered electric shocks due to hanging wires on the streets, be it in cities or villages. Expressing concern over the number of deaths caused by electric wires, the CM asked APTransco to tighten loose wires and also speed up underground laying of wires. The CM met APTransco officials at a review meeting on Hydro Power Projects at the Secretariat on Tuesday. He expressed happiness over the laying of underground electrical cables by the APTransco at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore and hoped that in the next three to four years, the GHMC area would be relieved of surface and hanging wires.
