Andhra Pradesh Chief Minster N Kiran Kumar Reddy today visited the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport’s state-of-the-art Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility. This was the first visit by the Chief Minister to the MRO facility.
This facility was inaugurated by Mr Ajit Singh, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, on March 13, 2012. The Chief Minister along with Home Minister Ms Sabitha Indira Reddy, Major Industries Minister Dr J Geeta Reddy and Minister for Infrastructure & Ports, Mr Ganta Srinivasa Rao toured the entire facility which includes one Wide body hangar (can also accommodate two narrow body aircraft alternatively), one Narrow body hangar with two Bays, and one Narrow body cum Paint hangar. GMR Group Chairman G M Rao briefed Chief Minister about the MRO facility which provides full aircraft base maintenance service infrastructure in India, and will cater to the maintenance needs of the regional and Global Airline customers. He also explained how it performs the Engineering and Maintenance Service operations on Narrow body aircraft like B-737 NG, ATR 42/72, and A-320 family of aircraft types and on Wide body aircraft like B-777 & A-330, in this MRO facility.
