CM to visit Nellore to console victims

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will leave for Nellore by 1245 hrs flight via Tirupati to console the victims of the ghastly fire accident in the New Delhi-Chennai Tamil Nadu Express near Nellore Railway Station today.

An official release here said the Chief Minister expressed shock and anguish over the accident and said it was very unfortunate. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families. Earlier, as soon as he received the information about the accident, the Chief Minister directed the District Collector, Superintendent of Police and officials of Fire and Emergency Services and Medical Department to rush to the spot to supervise personally the rescue and relief operations. The Chief Minister also instructed the Chief Secretary Ms Minnie Mathew to monitor relief operations on a minute-to-minute basis and coordinate with the Railway officials of Secunderabad and Delhi. The Chief Minister asked the administration to press into service additional medical teams, specialist doctors and shift the injured to nearby hospitals. He also instructed them to extend the best medical treatment to the injured immediately. Mr Reddy also spoke to the local MLAs, people’s representatives and asked them to rush to the spot to oversee the relief operations personally and help the victims.

Accordingly, the district administration including District Collector, Superintendent of Police, Medical, Fire officials with rescue teams and additional doctor teams immediately rushed to the spot and taken up the relief operations.

People’s representatives also visited the spot and were supervising the relief operations, the release said. UNI
