Extending 70th Independent Day Celebrations from the citadel of Historical Golconda Fort, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today greeted the people of Telangana whose land is being purified with the holy waters of River Krishanaveni as the State is soaking in the 12-day Pushkaralu.
When the national tricolour was infurled on the Golconda Fort premises, the State was a two-and-a-half month old infant and facing teething problems, he said. “Gradually the State government could give a stable government and in two years, we have crossed some milestones in the development and welfare sector and the nation is looking at us”, he claimed. The Chief Minister asserted that the youngest State was treading on a growth trajectory by maintaining cordial relations with the Centre and neighbouring States. As part of its goal to become No. 1 State in the country, the Telangana government succeeded in its efforts to ensure that the flagship programs are on a fast pace.
In a new leap, the government could take up development programs with a focus on welfare spending a whopping Rs 36,000 crore, he said. KCR maintained that “We are proud that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently participated in a few developmental programs, including dedication to nation a Thermal Power Plant, laying foundation stone for revival of Fertiliser plant and others. He announced that Telangana State will get another 1000 MW power from Chattisgarh in four months.
Taking potshots at the previous governments for not completing Godavari projects and only compounded the problems with neighbouring States, he said his government took initiatives that paved way for the historic pact with Maharashtra. He said, “We have convinced Karnataka and Maharahstra to address the problems pertaining to irrigation projects and RDS and Godavari projects will be completed as per schedule. In Mahbubnagar district, about six lakh acres will be irrigated with completion of Bheema, Nettempadu, Kalwakurthy and Koilsagar projects, he said, adding that taking steps to reach the milestone of irrigating one crore acres.
The Chief Minister listed various programs and schemes, including irrigation, health, education, law and order and other key sectors. The government is giving equal priority to health and education, launching 40 dialysis centers and diagnostic centers and 230 residential schools as part of KG-to-PG program this year. New districts will be in place from next Dasara festival to offer smooth governance, he said, adding that a focus is on to complete Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Harithaharam and other flagship programs. Besides, steps have been taken to increase storage capacity to 17.07 lakh mt through 330 godowns which will be increased to 506 in future.
The Telangana government will suppress the anti-social elements with iron hand in coordination with the NIA and other security agencies, he said and proudly announced that the State police got two President’s medals and 86 national medals. The government will go ahead with its plan of transforming the State into a golden Telangana by surpassing hurdles being created by some vested interests and the parties creating hurdles to the government as long as it enjoys the people’s support, KCR asserted.
The Chief Minister also announced 100 per cent subsidy for small and marginal farmers. He said the State government was committed to the uplift of farmers and poised to launch several welfare measures for them. The Chief Minister also said Kalyana Lakshmi scheme would be extended to BCs, free education was being implemented from KG to PG and allocation of Rs 100 crore for poor Brahmins in the State budget. Besides, 12 per cent reservation for STs and filling of one lakh government posts are the other targets of the Telangana government, he added. (NSS)
