CM thinking for Minorities

Hyderabad, May 20: Govt. to provide funds and land at Shamsabad for Haj house, Safeguard of Wakf properties, Minority students to get allowance on par with B.Cs., C.M. instructs to implement minority schemes.

The Chief Minister reviewed the functioning of the Dept of Minorities Welfare, Minority Finance Corporation, Wakf Board and Urdu Academy at a High-level meeting attended by Minorities Welfare Minister Mr. Ahmedullah & Principal Secretary to Minorities Welfare Mr. Lingaraj Panigrahi and other higher officials. CM agreed to allot additional funds for financial assistance programmes for Minorities for residential schools and hostels. He agreed to allot land at Shamsabad for Haj House and to release necessary funds for its construction for which he had promised at Rachabanda Programme.

He instructed the officials to prepare proposals for the establishment of study circles for Minority students on par with A.P. Study Circle for S.Cs and B.Cs study circle to impart coaching for competitive examinations and professional courses. He agreed to sanction maintenance allowance to hostel boarders of Minority students on a par with B.Cs students. Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy sanctioned Rs. 57 Lakh for the internationally famous Dairatul Maarif by Osmania University for editing and publishing the rare and ancient Arabic manuscripts. He instructed the officials to prepare proposals for the construction of Urdu ghars and marriage halls which could not be completed earlier and to assess the need for such complexes to generate income. He sought a report about the development of Urdu through Urdu Academy to revive Urdu medium open schools, provide infrastructure in Urdu medium schools, to supply computers and its training financial assistance to Urdu medium schools and publication or Urdu medium text books.

He also sought proposals from District Collectors and Superintendents of Police for allotting lands for Special Economic Zones and preservation of church properties.

Talking to press reporters, Minorities Welfare Minister Mr. Ahmedullah told that the Chief Minister has instructed the state officials to implement the welfare schemes pertaining to minorities in a better manner. He also said that the reservations for minorities in educational institutions and jobs have been extended for a further period of (10) years. He also said that the 4% quota for the Muslims would not be reduced. He said that the Govt. is serious about protecting the Wakf properties.
