Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today articulated serious discontent over Krishna Water Board fixing deadline till November 2 for using 3 TMC of waters for power production in Srisailam project. As the deadline ending on November 2 to produce power at Srisailam, the Government may think an alternative to produce power at Nagarjuna Sagar, it is learnt. However power production was stalled for the time-being at Nagarjuna Sagar to avoid submergence of villages near Pulichintala under the project.
During a high-level review meeting with Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Irrigation Advisor Vidyasagar Rao and others, KCR said to have asked them to move Supreme Court for justice. The CM is believed to have asked them to take up the issue seriously with the apex court at Delhi enabling it to direct the AP Government to pave an easy way for power production and release of waters and power from various projects. The court directive may come in favor of Telangana State as per AP Bifurcation Act, he felt.
It may be noted that Telangana Government expressed dissatisfaction on Board’s decision for hampering its interests. The CM also asked the officials to argue strongly with sheer discontent and objections on its verdict with Krishna Water Management Board. The CM also blamed the Centre for not directing the AP Government to adhere to the norms of Bifurcation Act that ensures 54 per cent of waters from any project, it is learnt. KCR reportedly came down heavily on his AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu for ‘influencing’ Krishna Water Board Chief Pandit to dictate terms to Telangana State on allocation of power and waters to Telangana State against the AP Bifurcation Act.
