Hyderabad, October 25:The proposed visit of the Chief Minister, Mr Rosaiah to Delhi should be utilized for convincing the Centre to extend more relief funds to the State instead of focusing on cabinet expansion, the BJP State President, Mr Bandaru Dattatreya stated.
Releasing copies of his first open letter to the new Chief Minister Mr K Rosaiah at a media conference in the BJP office on Sunday, Mr Dattatreya stated that Rs.1,000 Crore announced by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh as immediate relief to the State, was not released till today. He pointed out that the central teams have already visited the flood-hit areas of Karnataka and confirmed that the request of Karnataka Government for Rs.19, 000 crore central assistance was reasonable. He alleged that the arrival of central teams to the State was delayed due to the inaction of the government.
Alleging that Mr Rosaiah’s government has utterly failed in taking up rescue and relief operations in flood hit-areas, he opined that the non-cooperation of some Ministers to the Chief Ministers has also shown some impact. Pointing out that the slush was not completely removed in Kurnool town even 20 days after the water receded, he opined that the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Mr Anam Ramnarayana Reddy should have camped in the city and speeded up the sanitation works. The Health Minister, Mr Danam Nagender has also not visited any flood hit areas. The hot weather prevailed after the floods had only prevented the spread of epidemics in the flood-hit areas, he added. He questioned as to why the Major Irrigation Minister Mr Ponnala Laxmaiah has not monitored the situation at the reservoirs in the crucial time from the hospital where he joined for treatment of mild fever. He questioned as to why Mr Ponnala has not visited Sunkeshula project which was washed away in the floods.
He stated that the leadership issue was completely an internal matter of the Congress; but it should not cause inconvenience to the common people. He pointed out that the administration was paralyzed in the State during the time of calamity due to contradictions between the cabinet members.
