Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday announced that a lifetime monthly pension of Rs. 5,000 will be given to the affected people of Barwani botched up eye surgery, who lost their vision.
“We have taken the issue seriously. What has happened in Barwani is unfortunate,” Chouhan told reporters.
“We have announced Rs. 2 lakh each as compensation to the victims. We have also decided to give Rs.5,000 as pension to the victims every month,” he added.
In a camp held in the Barwani district hospital in Madhya Pradesh last week, 24 people lost their eye sight after cataract surgeries.
