Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today ordered a special helicopter to take Food and Civil Supplies Minister D. Sreedhar Babu and Commissioner of Health, Praveen Prakash to the bus accident spot and hospitals to oversee relief operations, post mortem and dispatching of dead bodies to Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister today held a detailed emergency high level meeting with top officials at Secretariat on the bus accident at Naldurg, near Osmanabad in which 30 passengers were killed and 16 injured.
Immediately on knowing of the accident, the Chief Minister spoke to his Maharashtra counterpart Prithviraj Chauhan and also to the District Collectors concerned and other officials. He ordered immediate relief operations and also adequate medical assistance to the injured.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to open helpdesk and a special team at the Osmania Hosptial to assist the relatives to identify the dead bodies which are reaching from Osmanabad. The Chief Minister said that there should be complete coordination among the officials in helping the kith and kin of the dead and also in providing adequate medical assistance to the injured.
The Chief Minister said all expenses for the treatment of the injured will be borne by the State government. He asked the officials to see that enough number of ambulances were arranged at Osmanabad to bring the bodies and any expenses in this regard will also be met by the State government.
The Chief Minister expressed his anguish at the Transport Officials in not getting the details of the passengers of the ill-fated bus. He directed them to immediately get the details of the passengers of the bus from the transport operators and the travel agents. He also enquired about the bus, its licence, condition and so on. “Someone should talk to any of the bus passengers and get more details of the accident:, the Chief Minister said. Officials said it’s a Karnataka bus.
Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, Principal Secretary (Transport) Lakshmi Parthasarathy, Principal Secretary (Health) Ratna Kishore, Principal Secretary to CM Binoy Kumar, Secretary to CM K.S.Jawahar Reddy, Special Secretary to CM S S Rawat, Addl. Seretary to CM Sreedhar, Commissioner of Health Praveen Prakash and other officials were present at the meeting called by the Chief Minister. (NSS)
