CM seeks two-month extension for Aadhar-linked subsidy for Cooking Gas

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday requested the Centre to extend two months’ time for Aadhar-linked subsidy cylinders in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and Ranga Reddy district.

A favourable decision is expected from Petroleum Ministry today evening or tomorrow, a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office said.

It may be stated here that the Oil companies fixed the last date as February 15. The Chief Minister also directed the officials to open another 200 Aadhar enrolling centres in addition to the present 210 centres functioning in twin cities and RR district.

The State Government has requested the consumers not to worry over this issue as a favourable decision is expected from Centre. It may be recalled here that Civil Supplies Minister D Sreedhar Babu wrote a letter to the Petroleum Ministry seeking extension of time. Following the directions from the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew also took up the issue with the Secretary, Petroleum Ministry. Since the issue has been taken up at the Ministerial and official levels, a favourable decision is expected. (INN)
