CM seeks priority in gas allocation

Hyderabad, November 08: Chief minister K Rosaiah today spoke to petroleum and natural gas minister Murli Deora and requested him to allocate gas to other private projects only after allocation of 9.72 MMSCMD for APGenco’s 2,100-MW project proposed at Nedunur in Karimnagar district.

He also requested Deora to convert 3.36 MMSCMD from fall back to firm allocation for the existing gas-based IPPs which supply their full power to state in the interest of the state.

APGENCO had taken up the combined cycle gas-based power plant through a special purpose vehicle for development on a fast track mode. All the development activities, including land acquisition, statutory clearances and water allocation from Manair dam were completed. Now the project required about 9.72 MMSCMD of natural gas for which RIL had given assurance in April, 2007. However, the agreement with RIL could not be entered owing to lack of allocation of gas by the Centre, Rosaiah said.
