CM seeks exemption of state students from NEET, writes letter to G N Azad

Andhra Pradesh government has urged the centre to exempt the students belonging to the state from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Sending a letter to the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Chief Minister requested the Centre to issue an order exempting the State from the proposed NEET-2013.

In the letter Chief Minister claimed that introduction of NEET would involve certain amendments to the AP Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Prohibition of Capitation Fee) Act, 1983. He told that the EAMCET ranking is based on 25 per cent of marks secured in the intermediate examination and 75 per cent of the marks from entrance test. The students who joined intermediate in 2011-12 are eligible for 25 per cent for the marks secured in the Intermediate Board exam.

Chief Minister also stated in his letter that NEET syllabus is based on CBSC curriculum while the state has only adopted it since 2012-13.
