Hyderabad, April 07: Chief Minister K Rosaiah will make a plea to the Core Group on prices of essential commodities, appointed by the Union Government, to announce remunerative minimum support prices for foodgrains to encourage farmers to prefer them to commercial crops in the next agriculture season.
He will attend the meeting of the Core Group to be held tomorrow in Delhi. It is learnt that he would inform the meeting about the measures being taken by the State Government to control the prices of commodities. Rosaiah held a meeting today with officials of Civil Supplies and other departments on the prices of foodgrains in the State.
As part of his brief to the Core Group, he would explain that his Government had brought millers, traders into licensing system and had imposed stock limits.
Rosaiah would give an account of how the Government was encouraging the people to inform about the illegal hoarding of essential commodities. The Chief Minister would also tell the Group that as part of his Government’s efforts to control blackmarketing, officials have booked 4,860 cases, seized 21,000 tons of rice, 1,000 tons of sugar, 3,350 tons of pulses, 1.49 lakh liters of edible oils and 487 kilo liters of kerosene and other essential commodities all worth Rs 280 crore.
He would request the Group to restore allocation of 45,000 tons of rice under APL category and to restore allocation of 55,000 kilo liters of kerosene to the State.
