CM sanctions separate commissionerate for minorities

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has given green signal for the establishment of separate commissionerate for minorities on completing two years in office on Sunday. He has signed the respective file in this connection. A total of 69 posts, including one post of commissioner, seven posts of deputy directors, five posts of assistant directors and 56 other posts have been sanctioned.

Chief Minister had announced the formation of separate commissionerate for minorities on the occasion of budget presentation for the year 2012-13 but its implementation and sanction took a long time.

The commissionerate will be helpful in improving the performance of minority institutions. Minority Finance Corporation, Waqf Board, Urdu Academy, Hajj Committee and Christian Minority Corporation will work under the commissionerate. Government has started mulling over the names of some eligible IAS and IPS officers for the post of commissioner.
