CM Reviews Thermal, Mini Hydel Units, Assures To Solve All Issues

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said that power is an absolute necessity. In view of the public interest and absolute necessity for energy, he said the Government will do its best to sort out the problems of the thermal and mini hydel power projects immediately and asked the officials to speed up the process in this regard.

The Chief Minister today reviewed at separate high level meetings the thermal and mini hydel power generation with developers and officials at Secretariat. Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew, Principal Secretary, Energy, M Sahoo, Principal Secretary, Irrigation, Adityanath Das, CMD, APTRANSCO, Mr Hiralal Samariya, MD, NREDCAP, Kamalakar, MD, Discoms, Secretary to CM, K S Jawahar Reddy and other officials and developers and entrepreneurs of thermal and mini hydel power projects attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister, who patiently heard the problems of the thermal and mini hydel power project developers, assured them all issues will be sorted out at the earliest. He said it will be a win-win situation. While the developers and entrepreneurs should be encouraged, State should get power at a reasonable rate.

As far as thermal power projects are concerned, 15 big power projects are in the pipeline and are at various stages and by the end of 12th Plan, all of these projects put together are scheduled to generate 24,120 MW. While in some of them, work are ready to commence, for some of them land acquisition are in progress. Many mini hydel project developers are ready to establish their projects once the policy and tariffs are finalised.

The developers thanked the Chief Minister for his patient hearing and assurance to solve their demands at the earliest. (NSS)
