CM reviews strike situation; seeks additional power from Centre

Hyderabad, September 29: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has instructed the officials of Civil Supplies department to ensure timely availability of sufficient stocks of subsidy rice, essential commodities and its proper distribution in view of ensuing festivals.

The Chief Minister has also requested the Government of India to provide additional power from the unallocated quota of 315 MW. At present, the Central Government is already providing 185 MW from this quota. Supply of additional coal was also requested by the Chief Minister. He has also asked the AP Transco Officials to explore the utilisation of RNLG gas even at the higher cost.

The Chief Minister has reviewed the Strike situation with the Group of Ministers and senior officials on Wednesday evening at camp office and reiterated to ensure proper security and safety of the public and properties particularly the employees who are attending duties. Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, Municipal Minister M Maheedhara Reddy, Labour Minister Danam Nagender, Chief Secretary SV Prasad and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The officials informed that movement of private vehicles like buses, vans, cabs, jeeps, seven seater autos for the transport of passengers improved lot. APSRTC operated 450 buses in twin cities, 25 buses in Khammam and the Falaknuma depot in old city functioned normally and they hoped that situation will be improved tomorrow.

The Officials informed that 234 million units of power supplied against the demand of 267 million units. The coal production was improved to 50,000 Metric Tonnes. 33 rakes of Coal from Western Coal fields reached the State today. Kerala rescheduled power from 100 to 250 MW. 365 MW power is being procured from 26th of this month till 30th and 100 MW from 1st & 2nd Oct. 200 MW from Haryana, 335 MW from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan till 30th on swap basis. Around 94 MW additional purchase is being made from intra-state generators.

The State Government has requested the Ministry of Power to advise PGCIL to enhance the corridor availability on Round the Clock basis to enable Andhra Pradesh Discoms to procure additional quantity of power from outside southern region.

Emergency services like sanitation, garbage lifting water supply in GHMC area, Municipal areas and Panchayats are as usual

Doctors in Gandhi, Osmania, Warangal MGM, and PHCs, Dist hospitals in Telangana area attending emergency and out-patients services. Few hundreds of in patients were treated in Gandhi, Osmania and MGM, Warangal hospitals. But due the agitation by the doctors, the flow of in-patients reduced drastically.
