CM reviews progress over second major port in AP

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today reviewed the progress made in establishment of second major port in the State and directed the administration to speed up the process so that a consolidated proposal can be sent to Union Government at the earliest.

It may be recalled that the Union Government had agreed to set up a second major port with an estimated cost of Rs 7,000 crore, apart from already existed Visakhapatnam Port. The review meeting was held by the Chief Minister at Dr MCR HRD Institute, here this evening. Minister for Ports Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew, and other officials have attended the meeting. The Officials informed that Technical committee appointed by the Centre has furnished its report on the proposed three locations. The meeting discussed the advantages and limitations of each location. The Chief Minister has instructed the Secretary, I&I to speed up the process so that a consolidated proposal is sent to the centre at the earliest. The Chief Minister also reviewed about the ongoing works of all minor ports and airports in the State including Machilipatnam, Kalingapatnam, Bhavanapadu ports, Tirupathi, Vijayawada, Warangal and Rajahmundry Airports.
