Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday said that the State Government would spend Rs. 2,568 Crore to establish 160 residential schools for students of minority communities in the next five years. He said nearly one lakh students would benefit from these schools.
Addressing a review meeting at his camp office here, the Chief Minister said that the government would spend another Rs. 3,000 crore to construct permanent buildings and provide other infrastruccture for the residential schools. He said this year, Rs. 143.21 crore were being spent on 17,000 students studying in 71 residential schools across the State.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the issue of SC, ST and BC residential schools.
The meeting was attended by Deputy CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Govt Whip in Council P. Rajeshwar Reddy, State Planning Board Vice-Chairman Niranjan Reddy, Special Representative in Delhi Venugopal Chary, MPs P. Srinivas Reddy and Balka Suman, MLAs E. Dayakar Rao, Babu Mohan, Ganesh Gupta among others.
The Chief Minister said that the government has already started 71 residential schools and another 89 schools would be established next year. He expressed satisfaction over the performance of existing schools. (INN)
