In order to meet the ever increasing and unusual power demand even in Khariff season, the State Government took serious steps for optimization of power generation through APGENCO and other sources apart from procurement of additional power through short-term and long-term basis.
The Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is going to review, on Monday morning at Secretariat, on various aspects of power sector such as power supply position, expediting the upcoming power projects of APGENCO, procurement of additional power, consumer services, promotion of renewable energy sources, short-term and long-term programmes for development of the sector.
In this context Dinesh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Energy, who has discussed several key issues of power sector which are likely to be reviewed during the high level meet, with Hiralal Samariya CMD/APTRANSCO, K. Vijayanand, MD/APGENCO, G. Anantha Ramu, CMD/APCPDCL and Munidra Special Secretary, Energy, emphasized the need to expedite the ongoing power projects in generation, transmission and distribution sectors apart from encouraging Energy Conservation activities in a big way. The State Govt. have already contemplated to invest around Rs.14,000 crore in the next four years for strengthening of the Transmission (Rs. 6000 crore) and Distribution (Rs.8000 crore) (T&D) infrastructure network, he said.
