CM refuses to reimburse more than Rs. 35,000

The Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that the government would not reimburse the fee of engineering students more than Rs. 35,000 per student.

The Chief Minister held a meeting with the Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha and others on the matter. He told them to make it clear that the government would not enhance the fee beyond Rs. 35,000.

It may be mentioned that college managements were asking for a minimum of Rs. 38,000. The Chief Minister has refused to hike the fee beyond Rs. 35,000. while the managements were asking for the government to announce about the enhancement to be effected next year also. However, the Chief Minister said the government would think about it only then. He is also not conceding the request of the managements to limit the reimbursement to the extent of Rs. 35,000 for the present year.

The Chief Minister told the ministers to inform the managements about the finalized fee and organize inspections by task forces from August 16. He has also suggested to them to obtain the signatures of managements on agreements.

Finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has said that in this backdrop, the committee of ministers would once again meet on August 16 and take a final call on the issue.

Meanwhile, college managements are trying to go to the Supreme Court once again on the issue. However, some other college managements have been trying to counsel these managements not to once again approach the Apex Court. (NSS)
