Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal on Sunday said Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy would throw his “last ball” against the Centre’s decision for going ahead with bifurcation of the State in the form of a sit-in at National Capital on February 4. So far the Chief Minister tried his best to speak against the State bifurcation, but this time he has chosen Delhi – as a platform to express his discontent to party bosses over bifurcation, he added.
Rajagopal said the dharna will be launched at “Shakti Sthal” – memorial of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. President Pranab Mukherjee sought views of the Assembly which wound up the process of eliciting them amid ruckus and din. Though, it may not be fructified to prevent the bill, political analysts feel that Kiran is moving ahead strategically in this regard.
Lagadapati Rajagopal, who is planning to float a new political party, said Kiran Kumar Reddy will represent the case to the President and will urge him not to introduce the Telangana Bill in Parliament. “Our aim is to express our discontent on bifurcation to the Centre. Kiran’s dharna is to inform the Centre about Indira Gandhi’s views against small States. We hope that all political parties, including TD, YSRCP and others against bifurcation will join our protest. “We will wage our final fight against the bill and mount pressure on the Centre to defer its decision of carving out Telangana”, he added. He exuded confidence that Seemandhra Union Ministers will join the protest dharna. He also said that the President will obtain legal opinion before giving his nod on the issue. (NSS)
