Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has announced the establishment of one skill development centre in each district to provide employment to the educated unemployed youth.
Speaking on the occasion of May Day celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi here on Friday, the Chief Minister said that the State Government has been taking several measures for the welfare of labourers and workers of different sectors. He announced that accidental insurance up to Rs 5 lakh for 16,000 home guards and about 12,000 journalists. The benefit will also be extended to nearly 8,000 drivers. He also announced waiver of tax from the auto-rickshaws operating in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government has been promoting rapid industrialisation to increase the job avenues for youth. He admitted that thousands of education and qualified youth were still unemployed. Therefore, by imparting various skills, the State Government proposes to increase their levels of employability. He sought the Central assistance to set up skill development centres across the State. He said related industries would be linked to those centres.
KCR reminded that the State Government has been giving Rs 1,000 monthly pension to nearly 3.70 lakh Beedi workers in the State.
Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreyya, Deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari, Home and Labour Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy and other leaders and officials also addressed the meeting. (INN)
