Hyderabad, January 19: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today said the State government will make all efforts to get all 18 clearances required for the Pranahita-Chevella project paving the way for its declaration as a national project.
The project, which is already under the Prime Minister’s Special Package programme, will get 90 percent funding from the Centre if it gets the national project status.
The Pranahita-Chevella Sujala Sravanthi project is aimed at providing irrigation facilities to a command area of 16.4 lakh acres in drought-prone areas of seven districts in Telangana.
It will also provide 10 TMC for drinking water to the villages en route, 30 TMC for drinking water to Hyderabad city covering the GHMC area and also 16 TMC for industrial purposes.
At a review meet on irrigation projects in Telangana, the Chief Minister had directed the Finance department to release funds for clearing the contractors’ bills as per schedule.
He also discussed the progress of Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) Project Phase-I and Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project Phase-I for supplying drinking water to the GHMC area.
