CM presents silk clothes to Sri Rama-Sita at Bhadradri, announces Rs 100 cr for Khammam development

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today announced Rs 100 crore for executing developmental works in Khammam district.

The Chief Minister was speaking after presenting “Mutyala Talambralu” and silk clothes to the presiding deities to mark celestial wedding of Lord Sri Rama and Sita at the abode of Bhadrachalam in Khammam district. He was accompanied by his family members, Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and others. Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy also presented silk clothes to the presiding deities on the occasion.

Speaking to the media later, the Chief Minister said he would hold talks with spiritual guru China Jeeyar Swamy on the temple development. The State government will take all measures to develop Parnashala, Jathayu Mandap and other facilities at the temple, he declared. He said two projects have been sanctioned for Khammam district in order to prevent drought situation in the district. KCR accused the Opposition parties of making a hue and cry on government schemes.

“Khammam district is falling in the midst of two rivers the Godavari and Krishna and there shall not be any problem pertaining to irrigation”, he remarked. KCR also predicted that Khammam district will witness some miracles after completion of the Sitarama Project. “We are committed to take up works to irrigate one crore acres in five years. Telangana has emerged as No. 1 State in the country by implementing welfare schemes”, he maintained. The Government plans to complete Sita Rama Project at a cost of Rs 7,967 crore for which KCR laid foundation stone at Rollapadu in the district last February. The Sitarama Lift scheme was redesigned replacing Rajiv Sagar and Indira Sagar projects to bring under acreage five lakh acres in the district.

Defying blazing son, thousands witness celestial wedding

The celestial wedding was performed in the Ekashila Mandap in Mithila grounds in Abhijit lagna at 12 noon in the presence of thousands of devotees, who came not only from the two Telugu States but also from the neighbouring States like Odisha and Chattisgarh and so on. Defying scorching sun devotees poured into the temple town chanting ‘Rama Namam.

Earlier, Chandrasekhar Rao left his farm house in Erravelli in Medak district in a helicopter and landed in the temple town. On arrival, he was accorded tumultuous welcome by ministers, legislators and officials. KCR was accompanied by his wife and his grandson Himanshu (son of K Tarakarama Rao). While the Chief Minister carried the sacred silk clothes of the celestial couple on his head, Himanshu carried Mutyala Thalambralu on his head. Earlier, the deities were brought in a procession to the wedding venue. Governor ESL Narasimhan will attend the “Pattabhishekam” of the Lord on Friday evening. (NSS)
