Hyderabad, August 25: In a prompt reply to the letter by Rayachoti MLA Srikant Reddy that the CLP officer was being used to discredit the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, chief minister K Rosaiah said he agreed with the observations of the Rayachoti MLA. He, however, rebutted the MLA’s allegation that he was behind the anti-YSR campaign. ”Not just you, but even I am not able to tolerate Congressmen using the CLP for this purpose,” the CM said.
In the light of the controversy raked up by Srikant Reddy, Rosaiah is planning to constitute an executive for the CLP to ensure proper use of the forum.
Normally, the CLP executive body is constituted immediately after the party wins power. However, the ruling Congress could not do so because of various factors, including the death of YSR, the Jagan-for-CM campaign, delay in the conduct of a CLP meeting to elect a new leader (in place of the late YSR), etc. At the CLP meet, minister for information and public relations J Geeta Reddy was elected as the party leader in the Assembly. After becoming chief minister on Sept. 3, 2009, Rosaiah did not constitute a CLP executive.
Earlier, it had been decided to constitute the body in August 2009, but was delayed and could not take place due to YSR’s death. As for the CLP executive body, the chief minister will appoint his party MLAs and MLCs for the posts of four deputy leaders, four secretaries, one treasurer and upto 20 executive members. If required, one official spokesperson will also be appointed. It is learnt that the delay in constitution of the CLP executive also had its impact in respect of payment of salaries to the office staff since it requires the signature of the CLP secretary and treasurer to draw money from the CLP account.
