CM pats cops, but warns against laxity

Hyderabad, September 23: Chief minister K Rosaiah today cautioned the police department against being lax.

He wanted them to take all precautionary measures to deal with the situation after the pronouncement of the Allahabad High Court judgment on the ‘Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi’ issue on September 24. He once again appealed to the public, political leaders and elders of all communities to ensure that peace and harmony prevails.

In a release, the chief minister thanked people and various organisations in Hyderabad, including the Ganesh Utsav Committee, for cooperating with the government for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Ganesh nimajjanam in Hyderabad.

He urged people to extend similar cooperation and spirit over the next few days and maintain absolute communal harmony befitting the traditions of the historic twin-cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

He sought public cooperation and collective vigil to thwart any untoward incidents after the Ayodhya verdict.

Rosaiah commended the personnel of the police and other departments for their efforts in conducting the Ganesh Nimajjanam peacefully across the State. He said officials, and other organisations helped maintain communal harmony for which Hyderabad is famous for.
