CM orders probe into violence in Srikakulam

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday directed Srikakulam District Collector to order probe into the violence in Srikakulam, which claimed 4 lives and injured 20 others when two rival groups hurl country made bombs against each other.

Taking a serious note on the incident, the Chief Minister asked the Collector to initiate stern action against the perpetrators of violence.

Kiran Kumar Reddy also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each to next to kin of victim family and Rs 25,000 to those who were seriously injured in the incident.

He also directed the District Collector to provide better medical facilities to injured in the hospitals.

According to reports, two groups had reportedly hurled country made bombs against rivals at Lakshmipuram village in Vangara mandal in Srikakulam over the land dispute.

Two victims succumbed to their injuries at Rajam Hospital and their identieis are yet to be ascertained. Two died on the spot have been identified as P Sundar Rao and S Venkat Rao.

Though the village witnessed violence at 8 am, the police reached the spot after 10.30 am due to poll arrangements, Meanwhile a panic like situation prevailed in the violence hit Lakshmipuram village.(INN)
