CM orders probe into fire mishap at Kukatpally

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday directed the Director General of Fire Services and Commissioner, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to order an enquiry into the fire accident occurred at an exhibition in Kukatpally area and submit a detailed report.

The Chief Minister taking a serious note over the fire mishap in the exhibition, directed the officials to take all precautionary measures to see that such accidents do not occur in future.

According to reports, 75 stalls and four lorries have been gutted after a massive fire at Kukatpally exhibition grounds causing a huge damage to property. Three fire fighters pressed into service to douse the flames.

However, no one was died in the fire mishap, the officials stated.

The officials put the value of property damaged at Rs 50 lakhs. However, they stated that they are yet to assess the damage to property and reportedly stated that damage might be more than Rs 50 lakhs.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, the officials stated that the reason for fire mishap might be short-circuit.

According to reports, the fire could have been caused due to inadequate fire safety measures. Reports reveal that the traffic on the Mumbai highway was also affected.(INN)
