CM opens Langer Houz flyover, lays stone for ORR

Hyderabad, March 01: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Sunday laid the foundation for the Phase-II of the Nehru Outer Ring Road (NORR) and inaugurated the Langer Houz Flyover.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said because of population growth and inadequate investment flow, many cities are getting crippled. Lack of infrastructure to meet the exponentially growing traffic needs was leading to utter chaos and hampering of development.

In order to avoid such a situation in Hyderabad, the State Government is creating infrastructure to meet even the future needs, particularly to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Very soon the State Government is going to take up the prestigious Metro Rail project and some more flyovers that would change the shape of the city, Rosaiah said.

The ORR Phase-II which covers a total length of 33.300 km will be taken up at a cost of Rs 1,100 crore with assistance from Japan International Corporation (JICA).

The Langer Houz flyover opened by Rosaiah was built at a cost of Rs 15 crore to ease vehicular traffic from Mehidipatnam and Langer Houz. The four-lane flyover from Langar Houz to Bapu Ghat will clear the traffic bottleneck at Langer Houz crossroads.

Ministers Sabitha Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Anam Ram Narayana Reddy, Mukesh Goud and Danam Nagender were among those present.
