Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday gave green signal to the CBI to prosecute IAS officers, who were served notices by the Supreme Court in connection with the issuance of 26 controversial GOs that favoured the YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Following allegations that these GOs were largely responsible for Jagan to indulge in irregularities and amass wealth illegally, the Supreme Court issued notices to six ministers and eight IAS officers to explain about the GOs. Consequently, the CBI has requested the government to give permission to question those who received notices.
It is learnt that the government has now given permission to the CBI to prosecute B P Acharya, Srilakshmi, who are already in jail and some other IAS officers. It is learnt that the Chief Minister also wrote to the Centre explaining the situation. Following the decision of the CM, the CBI is also likely to prosecute L V Subrahmaniam, who is presently the EO of the TTD. It is likely that the government might also transfer another IAS officer Venkata Rami Reddy and keep him without posting, so that CBI would have a free hand to question and prosecute him.
The latest developments have created fresh commotion among the IAS officers and the ministers as well. Meanwhile, representatives of Bharati Cements have appeared before the CBI on Saturday as summoned. In a related development, Janani Infra and Sakshi Media whose properties were attached have filed a caveat in the City Civil Court, challenging the government order.
It may be mentioned here that the State government has already issued GOs for attaching the properties of Sakshi media and Nimmagadda Prasad, accused in the assets case against Jagan and Sunil Reddy accused in Emaar Properties scam. (NSS)
