TRS secretary-general K Keshav Rao has said he left the Congress party after patiently waiting for 13 years for the leadership to take a decision on Telangana statehood.
Talking to the media here on Tuesday, KK said though he had immense confidence that the Congress High Command would concede Telangana, he suspects that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was blocking it.
Manda Jagannatham, MP, who recently joined the TRS, said the Congress leadership was talking about Telangana now only to stop further migration from the party. He made it clear that the people of Telangana want a separate State and not any packages.
Another MP G. Vivek, who also joined the TRS, said the people of the region were not interested in any packages and all they want was a State with Hyderabad and ten districts of Telangana. He said nothing short of it would satisfy them. He also warned that Congress would face the wrath of the people if it announced any packages. He said it was the Seemandhra leaders, who want packages and not the people of Telangana. (NSS)
