CM lays stone for Rajagopuram reconstruction

Srikalahasti, August 30: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the collapsed ‘Rajagopuram’ of the Srikalahasteshwara temple in Srikalahasti in Chittoor district.

Mr Rosaiah told media persons after laying foundation stone, that a private firm ‘Navayuva Constructions’ had voluntarily came forward to construct the ‘Rajagopuram’ at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore.

The Chief Minister asked officials to complete the reconstruction works on the Rajagopuram in a time-bound period without giving any room for complaints. The reconstruction of the Rajagopuram is to be completed by December 2012.

Mr Rosaiah later had darshan of Vayulingeswaraswamy in the temple and performed special puja. Endowment Minister Gade Venkata Reddy was also present.

The Rajagopuram the five centuries old Rajagopuram at the Srikalahasteshwara temple in Srikalahasti of Lord Srikalahastheeswaraswamy and goddess Gnanaprasoonambika had collapsed on May 26 in which one person was killed.
