CM launches IV phase of Harithaharam program in Gajwel, exhorts people to protect saplings

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today launched the fourth phase of Haritha Haram in his home constituency Gajwel.

While launching the massive one lakh plus plantation program, the Chief Minister said, “If we protect the nature, it protects us. If nature exhibits its anger, then the existence of human-beings will become difficult. That is the reason why our elders educated us on worshiping nature so that the rain god bestows His blessings on us. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to plant saplings and save the nature”.

The Chief Minister toured the Gajwel extensively and participated in several plantation programs. He also participated in the program at four places in Medchal district, Turkapalli and planted saplings. He planted Kadambam sapling at Gajwel bus stand crossroads. When the CM initiated the program, there were clouds and moderate drizzle all around Gajwel area.

The Chief Minister planted saplings at Turkapalli, Mulugu and Prajnapur villages under Shameerpet Mandal. On the Rajiv Rahadari highway roadside, he planted Akashamalli sapling. After completion of programs in Gajwel, the CM stopped at Pragnapur and planted saplings at the residence of one Nagaraju. He enquired about the well-being of the Nagaraj family.

In fact, it was proposed that in the Gajwel municipality, 1,00,116 saplings are to be planted. However, on saturation basis, 1,36,588 saplings were planted covering all areas within Gajwel Municipal limits. On this occasion, the CM instructed the Forest Department officials to establish a green battalion to protect the forests and the greenery in the State. He also asked the Forest department to seek help of the Police department if necessary.

The CM announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to the Forest officers as an incentive and also said he would sanction more staff and adequate funds. After going through the forest, the CM suggested to the Forest officers that it would be better if a formal “forest lunch” (The Vana Bhojanalu) is organized for MLAs once. Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna and PCCF PK Jha thanked the CM. In the massive plantation program, 1,778 employees participated and 1,300 workers were engaged. Some 12,000 households, 45,000 people took part in the program.
