Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the pension scheme “Aasara” at Kothur on November 8 at 11 AM.
A few selected pensioners will be handed over enhanced pension by the Chief Minister to formally launch the scheme. The government has the pension to Rs 1,000 for old age persons and widows and Rs 1500 for physically handicapped. The Chief Minister has directed the officials to give pensions to all the eligible applicants. The scheme will be launched simultaneous in districts by ministers including Nayani Narsimha Reddy and Mahmood Ali in Hyderabad, P Mahender Reddy in Ranga Reddy, T Harish Rao in Medak, Etela Rajender and K Tarakarama Rao in Karimnagar, T. Padma Rao in Khammam, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy in Nizamabad and Jogu Ramanna in Adilabad district.
Meanwhile, speaking to media persons here, KTR made it clear that old age pension would be given to only one member of a family. He said each household would be eligible to get one old age, widow and any number of physically handicapped pensions. Those suffering from skeletal flourosis in Nalgonda district will also be eligible for physically handicapped pensions.
The minister said that nearly 20 lakh people would benefit from the schemes would cost the State’s exchequer about Rs 3,000 crore. (INN)
