CM to launch Education Awareness Year on Friday

Hyderabad, November 11: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will launch the year-long campaign “Rashtra Vidya Chaithanya Uthsavalu” from the People’s Plaza at Necklace Road here on Friday. This is being launched on the occasion of the 123rd birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

In a press release, the Chief Minister said that as country’s first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad implemented educational reforms with a modern outlook. The Central Government also observes Maulana’s birthday as National Education Day across the country. The Chief Minister said that Andhra Pradesh has also launched many initiatives towards educational reforms.

The State Level Programmes include Rally with teachers, Children, Youth Community members and other stakeholders; Oath Taking on inauguration of RTE Act; Reading out the message of Prime Minister; Inaugurations of upgraded Web-portal-“Mana Bhavitha”; Launching of Radio/TV weekly programme “Mana Bhavitha”; Releasing campaign material like songs, posters pamphlets etc., and news letter, annual report of SSA; Cultural activities by children; Speeches by guests; Exhibition on RTE & SSA; Felicitation of best functionaries/Children and Distribution of aids and appliances to Children With Special Needs(CWSN).

District Level Programmes include Conduct of rally with volunteers, teachers, children, youth and community; Conduct of Oath Taking by the District In-charge Minister; Report on district status of RTE; Reading out the message of Prime Minister/Chief Minister/Minister for School Education & Primary Education; Cultural activities by children; Speeches by parents, NGOs, children etc.; Exhibition on RTE & SSA; Honouring meritorious children/reputed NGOs/best field functionaries etc.; District level convergence on child labour, migrant children, minority children etc.; Theme song; Releasing of Poster, CDs and other campaign material and Distribution of aids and appliances.

School Level Programmes include Education rally with the teachers, students, youth and community; Conduct of Oath Taking by Special Officer/Headmaster; Reading out the Messages of PM and CM; Key address by HM/Teacher on RTE Act; Speeches by parents, NGOs, children etc.; Visiting of community to the School premises to observe the class rooms, toilets etc.; “Vidya Goshti” with parents and community members on RTE Act; Kalajathas and cultural activities on RTE Act; Mid day meals involving the community; Display of children’s performance; School, community lunch; Audit of school sanitation facilities and Report and review of SMCs.

It may be recalled here that the Education Fortnight was held from the 13th June to 25th June, 2011 in all the habitations in the State. The first week focused on enrolment of children and the second week on entitlements. Teachers, officials of the Education and other Departments concerned, public representatives, students and parents too participated in the programme.

The Chief Minister said education will be the spring board for the future of children and every child has the right for education. He said the focus was on the enrolment of children, retention, improving literacy and providing quality education at all levels. The Government is spending about Rs 2,500 crores towards infrastructure and other facilities including construction of model schools.

He also launched the Akshara Abhyasam during the Education Fortnight and had interaction session with “out of school” children and also with the drop out children. The Chief Minister also had interaction session with School Management Committee (SMC) members. The Chief Minister distributed school uniforms, text and work books and aids and appliances for the disabled. He addressed the students and teachers and participated in the Mid Day meals with children in the Government school. A Committee was constituted at the District level with District Collector as Chairman and Additional Joint Collector as Convener to oversee the programme.
