Chief Minister, Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was very much irritated with the malfunctioning of Minority institutions under the Govt. He reviewed their functioning yesterday. He commissioned the Secretary, Minorities Affairs to his camp office yesterday and sought a report from him. The Secretary apprised the CM that after the scam in Minorities Finance Corporation was exposed, many complaints have been received about irregularities in Wakf Board also which are being probed departmentally. He told the CM that he had a detailed discussion with Dr. Mohammed Ali Rafath, IAS, Managing Director of AP Dairy Development Corporation who was Special Officer of Wakf Board earlier.
It is reported that CM expressed dissatisfaction about the functioning of Minority institutions managed by the Govt. He instructed the officials in his office to refer to him any complaint received about these institutions so that immediate action could be taken against the erring officials while issuing instructions for taking stern action agasint those involved in the scam of Minorities Finance Corporation. He told the officials to take sever action against those who are responsible for misappropriating scholarships funds. He told that strict instructions have been issued to CBCID to conduct impartial enquiry.
Sources close to CM indicated that Secretary of Minority Affairs is collecting proofs of the allegations. The CM expressed his anger on the matters that are being dealt with by Wakf Board and told that the Govt. is getting a bad name due to malfunctioning of Wakf Board. He told that these institutions are not able to discharge duties related to the Welfare of Minorities and hence it is necessary to depute honest and spotless officials to improve their functioning.
During the course of discussion, CM expressed his displeasure about the Minister for Minorities Welfare that he didn’t inform him regarding these irregularities and kept him ignorant of the facts. Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy instructed Dr. Mohammed Ali Rafath to be in contact with the Secretary incharge of Minorities affairs in his office. Secretary of the Dept of Minority Affairs has also been advised to consult his senior officers in this matter.
