CM to inspect completed ORR stretch

Hyderabad, December 17: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will inspect the completed 38 km of Outer Ring Road stretch from Shamshabad to Pedda Amberpet soon.

The construction of 6 lane ROB across the railway track is recently completed facilitating the traffic movement from Gachibowli to Pedda Amberpet (Total 62 km) on Vijayawada National Highway – 9. The stretch will also be opened for vehicular traffic soon.

Four-lanes of ORR from Gachibowli to Shamshabad on National Highway – 07 was allowed for traffic in November, 2008. Eight lanes of ORR stretch was opened for traffic during July. The 158 km long Nehru Outer Ring Road is taken up in 3 Phases comprising of Phase-I from Gachibowli to Shamshabad of 24.4 km, Phase-IIA from Narsingi to Patancheru and Shamshabad to Pedda Amberpet of 62.3 km and Phase-IIB from Patancheru to Pedda Amberpet via Medchal, Shamirpet and Ghatkesar of 71.3 km.

The ORR stretch from Gachibowli to Pedda Amberpet is recently completed and the stretch from Narsingi to Patancheru is expected to be completed by April, 2011.

The 38 km ORR stretch, from Patancheru to Shamirpet, is scheduled to be completed by December-2011.

The 33 km ORR stretch, from Shamirpet to Pedda Amberpet, will be completed by December- 2012. The total cost of the ORR Project is Rs 6,696 crore.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is extending loan assistance of the ORR Project comprising of 8-Lane access controlled expressway along with 4-Lanes of Service road is first of its kind in India.
