CM hoodwinking people on several counts: AIADMK

Puducherry : Oposition AIADMK today charged Chief Minister V Narayanasamy with hoodwinking the people on several counts and said the ‘injustice’ the previous UPA government meted out to the Union Territory is boomeranging on the Congress rule in Puducherry now.

AIADMK legislature wing leader A Anbalagan told reporters here that it was indeed amusing to see Narayanasamy bringing to the notice of the Centre at the inter state council meeting in Delhi yesterday the ‘serious impact’ the government was facing by the adoption of separate public account.

Anbalagan said this account was opened in 2008 when Congress was in power here and also at the Centre.

“By accepting this scheme and also complying with it in 2008 the fiscal crisis and increase in debts due from Puducherry to Centre had been major fall out of the scheme”, he said.

“Does this mean that Narayanasamy who had failed to prevent the introduction of the scheme when he was Minister of State in PMO then is feigning to be champion of Puducherry? Anbalagan asked.

He said there were several other issues, including the need for special category status for Puducherry and inclusion of Puducherry in the Central Finance Commission.

Many resolutions had been adopted in the Assembly seeking the status and forwarded to the Centre in the past.Narayansamy could have taken steps as Minister then to persuade the Centre to grant the status, which he is now insisting on, he said, adding the Union Territory is kept out of the bounds of Central Finance Commission.

He demanded to know why Narayanasamy was unable to ensure inclusion of Puducherry in the Finance Commission.

Without doing so, he had made out a case at the inter state council meet, he said and charged him with trying to take the people for a ride.
