Apparently trying to douse mounting criticism against Chief Minister for stripping D Sridhar Babu of his Legislative Affairs portfolio just two days before the Assembly session beginning from January 3, Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy today said Kiran Reddy has discretionary powers with regard to making changes in the Cabinet.
Talking to the media at Raj Bhavan after calling on Governor ESL Narasimhan, Anam said there was nothing wrong in what Kiran Reddy has done. The Chief Minister has every right to change or shift or replace any minister, he added. However, he faulted Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy for criticizing the Chief Minister. Instead of talking to the media directly, Jana Reddy should have spoken to Kiran for an explanation, he said, adding that he won’t respond on the complaint against the Chief Minister to Governor by Telangana Ministers. Keeping present scenario in view, the Chief Minister might have taken such a step, he said. (NSS)
